[Photo #1, #2, and #3 - Flavors of Autumn]

Time to get back into the proverbial saddle. Fall is reminding me that though things change, though leaves fall and colors explode only to fade, the sun still rises in the east, and spring will come again. In many ways the end of summer is more beautiful than the beginning and although I shudder slightly at the idea of the coming cold, I'm thankful for the resilience fall instills in me. I'm excited to be doing artwork, taking pictures, accepting various graphic design gigs, and hopefully finishing a huge project of mine (for once).

I'm currently working on a new story I'm very excited about and I hope to post some concept sketches within the next few days. Probably some more extensive ramblings as well.

[Sketch #4 - SUSTAINED!]

Needing a little pick me up at work, I whipped this together with some sharpies that I found under the register. I'm in love with Harvey Birdman. Sorry, Phoenix, you do have really ridiculous eyebrows. D:

[Sketches #3 and #4 Respectively]

Just returned from Savannah, GA. Met some very interesting people on my wanderings, from fellow artists and illustrators at coffee shops (discussions of Scottie Young *smirk*), to my sister's zany and always fun friends, to the quiet people befriended at street corners or in swirling tidal pools. The weather was perfect, although I must say that the south has it's share of monsterously sized mosquitoes and cockroaches. Also reapplying sunscreen tends to slip one's mind if you fall asleep on the beach (yay, sunburn! It made some very interesting asymmetrical patters...). All and all a fantastic trip that is simply too much for me to surmise at the moment. I'm merely here and not napping to post some of the sketches I did on vaca.



First is a series of redesigns for my chop/personal logo/tattoo eventually. Played around with some different shapings, placement, concepts. Nothing too major, but it was a fun thing to do when sitting in the squares, waiting for Jess to get off work.

The second sketch is a personal one I won't go too into... there are a lot of emotions surrounding the reasons I drew it, and a lot of emotions I have towards the people in it. But at the core of my being, I missed "the gang" as we're so labeled below. Just a quick throw together with pencil, pen, and marker. Although it's a quick sketch, and there's a lot wrong with it technically, I really like this image alot...




Hopefully I'll have more to post soon. Now that I'm back in Dayton, I have to say I'm a little befuddled... which in any other context would be a word worth giggling over. For right now, some kind of sleep sounds like the right answer. As always, more to come.

[Sketch #2 - The Silent Knight]

Okay, I may be cheating a little by posting this picture. This is a sketch I did several years ago from a story of mine called God Save the Queen. One of the most interesting ideas for this story, which is a sci-fi, fantasy (go figure), was actually suggested to me by a friend. The Knights in this universe are actually fused with their weaponry, more specifically, it is fused to their skeletal structure. I really wanted to do an illustration of that at the time, as I love the idea of watching someone pull a kick ass sword from their spinal column. I just found this sketch the earlier today. I think I might do an updated version.

[First Post - Sketch #1]

There are a lot of people who follow me through my life, many faces that I see, many voices that call to me from beyond my dreams and the inner spaces of my thoughts. This is a sketch of the cast of Hell Gate, a story that has been with me for many years. It took a while to compile as I worked on it in brief junctions, sketching a person here and there. I plan on possibly blowing this up, touching up the sketch and making it a poster. The only thing I regret is that poor Ki seems almost stuck on there in the right bottom corner (bad planning, I ran out of room). Over all I'm pretty happy with this sketch though. I'm glad I got everyone I meant to in there.

This is the first of many things to come.
